MoH Interview and News [12:33:36 EST] by ~~ AndOne   Comments (0)
I spotted some info an official Add-On for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault over at alliedassault.net.  The info was from a German interview.

We will launch MoH: Team Assault, an Add-On for MoH: AA, before the end of this year. It will contain three new campaigns with nine missions. We're working on better AI, animations, it will all get better. We will extend the Multiplayer-part, where players can specialize themselves in one character. The hardcore gamer will also be surprised. We're adding nine new weapons to the game and it will be possible to drive (some) vehicles.

Of course this is not official news, but very interesting in deed. Too bad we have to pay for updates unlike Operation Flashpoint.

BTW.. For those of you who have not bought MoH:AA yet Circuit City has it for $29 this week.

Chrome interview [12:56:21 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
The guys at EuroGamer sent word that they've posted an interview with Krzysztof Marcinkiewicz of Techland, the developer working on the sci-fi based tactical shooter, Chrome.

Chrome interview

Here's a clip:
"Sometimes it is much safer and more effective to use a vehicle and take the enemy by surprise or save precious seconds to get somewhere fast", Krzysztof explained. "In Chrome you can find futuristic off-road vehicles, chasers, troop-carriers, shuttles, landers and robots of different size and purpose. The player can get in and drive every vehicle he comes up to. Some of them are typical military units, others perform a specific role in the plot."

MoH mission 1 walkthru [18:46:53 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Missed this yesterday, but the offical Medal of Honor website has posted a walkthru for Mission 1: Lighting the Torch. Give it a look if you're having trouble in the mission, but really, the game isn't that tough..

H&D2 preview [18:41:51 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Out of the Blue comes word that MGON has posted a preview of Illusion Softworks' Hidden and Dangerous 2, where once again you'll be sneaking around behind enemy lines and causing all kinds of havoc on the enemy. Here's a bit on the game engine:
The new 3D engine Illusion Softworks has created for the game is also very promising technology. As well as being better looking that most of the games in this increasingly popular genre, the engine will calculate real time ricochets and gravity based ballistics arcs. Bullets will even ricochet differently depending on the hardness of the surface they hit.
H&D2 is my most-awaited title of 2002 for sure..

Team Factor shots [18:22:38 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)

Another MoH review [23:37:01 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
There's another Medal of Honor review over at GamePro, where it scores a solid 5 out of 5. Here's a clip:
The Medal of Honor series is known for its amazing sound, but Allied Assault puts even its predecessors to shame. Everything, from rifle shots to officers shrieking orders, sounds exactly like it must have sounded in WWII. Likewise impressive are the graphics, which are so sickeningly realistic that you’ll be squinting for muzzle flashes to find snipers or watching your friendly soldiers to see if they’re limping from damage.

MoH reviews [2:50:32 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Too.. many.. reviews.. Whilst surfing around the 'net's gaming sites, I came across 3 new reviews of Medal of Honor:
bulletGameSpy (92%)
bulletMGON (9.5 / 10)
bulletVoodoo Extreme (90%)

Good stuff all around..

More H&D 2 News [12:05:22 EST] by ~~ AndOne   Comments (0)
There is another interview with Illusion Softworks (makers of Hidden & Dangerous.) This one goes into much more details. Here is a snip:
Will the game contain also some story or just the shoot’em up missions? How many missions we can expect and what time the gamer will spend with them?

Radek Havlíček: Yes, yet we count with presence of main hero and of his story. We expect the gamers will be able to identify themselves with the hero and thus they will feel the game atmosphere better. We work on 23 missions divided into 8 campaigns. These will lead the gamer into most of the battlefields of World War 2. Into the desert and dunes of North Africa, into Bharma’s jungle full of Japanese, into the beautiful marshy land of Southern Czech, into Normandy and Norway’s fjords, you will see Lofota archipelagos and German Alps fortress. And what time the gamer will spend with H&D2? Definitely it will not be a question of hours or days rather than weeks. Of course it will depend on the game style and choosed trickiness. Time spent in multiplayer not included.
Thanks GamingGrove

The boys at H&D 2 Hideout have scored 2 new (or seldom seen) shots of H&D 2.

The second shot of the jungle level looks pretty killer.. Can't wait till the game gets here already.. Reportedly slipping back to this summer tho, so we'll have to wait a bit longer.. (sigh)

MoH review [18:50:39 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Welp, looks like the reviews are starting to pour in.. Invisible Dream has posted a quickie review of EA and 2015's Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, where it scores an 88% overall. Here's what they thought about the overall gameplay:
Allied Assault's singleplayer missions each have their unique aspects and are a lot of fun, but unfortunately most of them end up being a simple point, shoot, find objective affair. Even the so-called stealth missions can be completed by going in guns blazing and killing everything in sight. The tough AI makes things a bit interesting, but some missions are made incredibly frustrating because of the enemies' ungodly accuracy. Enemy spawning is also annoying and cheesy. When ten more soldiers appear behind a small box you already passed, it is just not fun. Levels with scripted sequences, drivable vehicles and computer-controlled allies add to the atmosphere, but for the most part are gimmicky and don't offer significantly different gameplay. After finishing the game in what should take most gamers about eight hours, the game leaves you with an anti-climatic ending, but you're not really sure if you want more.
The review also contains lots of cool screenshots.. Give it a look..

H&D 2 News [22:13:16 EST] by ~~ AndOne   Comments (0)
I spotted a small interview from Illusion Softworks on hidden-and-dangerous2.co.uk. Which is expected to be released this summer. The interview goes into what has happed to H&D2 with the departure of it's lead designer.

It looks like the game is getting a major rewrite. They might take out the story mode as well to keep it as close as possible to the original.

MoH review, shots [16:07:28 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Got a few MoH goodies for today..

PC.IGN has posted a review of EA and 2015's Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, where it scores a 9.3 overall. Here's a taste:
As a special operative, you're supposed to be working alone on most of your missions. Ironically, the game is at its best when you're acting as part of a team. Having a few soldiers on your side boosts your enjoyment of the game immensely. Running through a town with a squad of riflemen around you is downright exhilarating. You really feel as if you're part of a team and, since you're sometimes subordinated to one of the friendly AI soldiers, you're told to carry out specific tasks. Nine times out of ten, it'll sound something like this: "Powell, you take point while we walk fifty yards behind you and listen for the bullets."
In addition, Voodoo Extreme has put up 13 new shots of MoH in action. Check those out too!

Ghost Recon patch update [3:35:42 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)

Call sign: Charlie interview [22:12:26 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
HomeLAN Fed has put up an interview with Outsider Development's Tomas Roller, lead designer of their Vietnam-era game, Call sign: Charlie. Here's a snip:
HomeLAN - What sorts of levels and settings will be a part of Call Sign Charlie?

Tomas Roller - The game depicts the adventures of elite soldiers involved in undercover operations. Their actions require mainly stealth maneuvering and precise planning but sometimes open contact with the enemy is just inevitable. The mission types the team takes part in include sabotages, search-and-rescue, kidnapping, espionage, capturing enemy materials and more. Except for primary goals there are secondary goals in every mission.
The game is still a long way's off, with the release currently set for the end of 2003.

IGI2 preview [19:48:40 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Missed this yesterday, but Blue's News reminds me that House 'O Spank has posted a preview of Innerloop and Codemaster's game in progress, IGI2: Covert Strike. Here's a snip on the new MP aspect to the game:
Of course the most exciting improvement in IGI 2 (the lack of was the most disappointing part of the original) is the inclusion of multiplayer! The game will fully support multiplayer and is said to have a new type of gameplay unseen in games before. Everyone is pretty tight lipped about this aspect of the game, however we did get to learn a little about some of the "team" action we can expect. Players will get to experience team play and cooperation ala Counter-Strike, but with multiple objectives. Think along the lines of...penetrating a compound, hacking a computer and stealing files, rescuing a hostage and safely getting them to the extraction zone...and you'll have a pretty good idea of what to expect. As well it is said that security systems, alarms and cameras will all play an important part in the multiplayer game! The multiplayer game is said to borrow heavily from the single player game in terms of missions but from there it become a vastly new game with players either assuming the role of "attacker" or "defender". There is hope for supporting up to 32 players which should provide for some pretty intense action. This is definately one of the parts I am most excited about as probably most of you are as well.
Should be good when it gets here later this year..

MoH:AA preview, reviews [22:00:40 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Got a few Medal of Honor news items for ya..

First up, t-break has put up a preview of the game, chock full of press build screen grabs (too bad they're not viewable full screen.) Here's some of the good stuff:
Level to level you?ll be thrown into missions involving blowing up trucks, sabotaging anti aircraft turrets, manning gun turrets on an escaping jeeps, stealing documents, blowing up subs, impersonating German officers with the help of your passport, commandeering your own squad, and not to mention taking part in the famous Omaha beach landing. I?m going on the record here folks, this is the most compelling and indepth single player campaign I?ve ever had the chance to play- Half Life, eat your heart out!
Def a good read.

Next up, GamesDomain has posted the first MoH:AA review, and they awarded it with 4 out of 5 stars. Here's a healthy snip:
Friendly and enemy AI in the game also has its share of both brilliance and stupidity. Instead of scripted behavior, most enemies actually appear to evaluate the surroundings and decide how to use them to their advantage. There isn't a monumental variation in things they'll do, but the fact that each one makes a choice means reloading save games doesn't look identical every time. Nearly all enemies will take cover, but it's particularly cool watching some fire their gun around a corner without bringing their body into view. Soldiers' reactions also add greatly to the atmosphere - throw a grenade into a crowded room and they'll frantically yell and run for cover, and sometimes even throw it back at you. When not fatally wounded, there's a range of "stunned" animations that leave them vulnerable to further hits while they try to regain composure. Some soldiers crash to the floor while their guns continue discharging.

On the flipside, the AI still chokes relatively frequently, as enemies remain motionless in plain sight because you haven't "triggered" them regardless of if fellow Nazis are dying around them. While many will hide and wait you out, others will blindly run directly into your line of fire in a doorway, one after another. Another irritation includes areas where the difficulty is artificially enhanced by infinite spawning of soldiers; especially embarrassing was on one level, we actually arrived at the spot where they were magically materializing in front of our eyes.
Yeah, I noticed that about the demo.. Sad to see the final game is like that too. Squad mate AI was just really poor. But in fairness, MoH isn't a squad-shooter..

Of note also, is that print mag PC Gamer has also published a review of the game in this month's issue, and scored it with a 91% overall.

Game trailers [22:05:53 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Two more tactical shooter game trailers have hit the 'net tonight.

Chrome interview [3:08:51 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Avault has put up an interview with Techland's Krzysztof Marcinkiewicz, where they discusss their tactical shooter, Chrome. Some game background:
Chrome is a first- and third-person tactical action game set on the newly colonized planets of a distant star system. Players are an interstellar bounty hunter who performs various missions that challenge both his reflexive and tactical skills. The game contains different environments including tropical jungles, military bases, underground mines, orbital bases, and moons. Players are armed with a massive arsenal including knives, pistols, sniper rifles, machine guns, plasma rifles, flamethrowers, and rocket launchers. The hero is also given implants that can improve his accuracy, health, and speed.
Plus, here's a sample Q & A:
How does Chrome challenge both a player's reflexive and tactical skills?

Each mission can be completed in multiple ways; depending on your preferred approach, you can play in either the arcade or tactical mode. Chrome challenges players who like entering the enemy's base through its front gate as well as those who prefer a strategic approach to eliminating enemies. However, Rambo tactics are not enough to accomplish all of the missions. Sometimes, players must stop and think about which strategies will help them succeed. The differences in gameplay are huge. Using implants, players can transform themselves into the perfect sniper, a stealth assassin, or a highly-specialized commando who doesn't fear facing enemies head-on. Changing the main character's abilities by adding various implants and additional equipment enables players to use completely different tactics to defeat enemies.

Even more info can be found on the Chrome website, including some really jazzy screenshots. The vegitation looks pretty nice on this one. And it kinda reminds me of Codename: Outbreak..

IGI2 interview [20:45:46 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
ToTheGame has posted an interview with Innerloop's Managing Director, Henning Rokling, where they discuss IGI 2.

IGI2 interview

Lot's of good info in this one. Here's a snip:
» When climbing ladders and fences in Project IGI the view changed to 3rd person, leaving you vunerable to enemy fire. Has there been any thoughts regarding this in the course of making IGI2?

We're keeping it like it is. This is intentional.
I had no problem with switching into 3rd person mode when climbing ladders or hacking computer terminals.. You would be (and should be) vulnerable to enemy fire at those times anayway. Plus, it made the game kinda cinematic..

MoH preview [7:16:56 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
In more preview news, Game Revolution has put up a Medal of Honor preview of their own.

MoH preview

Here's a snip:
In the many battles you'll fight, you'll get a chance to use a truckload of historically accurate firepower. From the Springfield '03 Sniper to the Thompson SMG, Allied Assault promises plenty of awesome old school firefights. Matching the weaponry are a few cool vehicles for you to interact with. If that piques your interest, there are really only two words left for you: Sherman Tank. Yup, one of the levels features a tank mission complete with enemies to run over, other tanks to destroy and even a few buildings to demolish. Very cool.
Not much new info, but 5 cool pics are included.

IGI2 interview, preview [7:07:19 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Some new IGI2 articles have hit the net.

First up is an interview with Innerloop's Jolyon Leonard, design team leader. Here's something to start you off:
HomeLAN - IGI2 will finally include multiplayer modes. What can you tell us about your plans for this feature?

Jolyon Leonard - Multiplayer will borrow heavily from the singleplayer missions, with multiple objectives, massive environments, and alarm systems. But there is where the similarity ends, rather than being a lone operative there is a focus on team play to achieve the objectives for each map, with teams taking the role of either “attackers” or defenders.
Next up, Electric Playground has posted an IGI2 preview as well. Here's a clip:
Firefights will also be a bit more intense in the sequel, as the enemy soldiers will attempt to flank your position. They will also lay down cover fire for their fellow troops in order to keep you grounded. It will be possible to fight your way out of a few situations, but the focus on stealth is much greater in IGI 2 than it was in the original IGI.
The game is currently set for a Summer 2002 release..

Deadly Dozen review [19:29:09 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
The guys at GameSpy have put up a review of nFusion Interactive and Infograme's WWII squad shooter, Deadly Dozen, and were't exactly kind about it. Here's a snip:
In fairness the developers at nFusion Interactive, who had previously created budget-hunting titles, did manage to make the small unit tactics work better than in the aforementioned Hidden & Dangerous, and the game is fairly balanced with only four men to a team. Having to command a dozen men with this game's interface would have been a problem, but only having these small teams takes away from the "dozen" concept just a bit.
Hmmm, it's called Deadly Dozen cuz ya choose your squad from a roster of 12 men. Gee, that's a dozen.. How hard of a connection is that to make..?

I don't think the reviwer had a clue, and jeez, even kept calling it The Dirty Dozen instead of Deadly Dozen. He also praised Ghost Recon's more 'streamlined' squad movements? Huh? Ya have to move each squad individually in GR, and that's cumbersome as hell.. This is just a bad review folks, plain and simple.. DD is worth its asking price, hand's down..
