  • Elite Warriors interview [2:44:59 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (1)
HomeLAN Fed has posted a quickie interview with nFusion's executive producer Steve Ellis to discuss Elite Warriors: Vietnam. Here's a snip:
HomeLAN - First, how did the idea for Elite Warriors: Vietnam come about?

    Steve Ellis
    - The idea came about after reading Maj. Plaster's first book detailing the operations SOG ran during the Vietnam War. We developed a relationship with John and designed the game around the personal experiences with SOG, which are outlined in his books.

HomeLAN - How did Major Plaster help in the development of the game?

    Steve Ellis
    - Maj.Plaster was involved right from the start. His input was critical in making an authentic game.

HomeLAN - What can you tell us about the storyline for the game?

    Steve Ellis
    - The player takes the role of a SOG recon team leader running missions deep behind enemy lines in Laos along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Players will be briefed and sent on historic SOG missions.
The game is set for release in late January or early February of 2005.

Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault review [2:48:52 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Frictionless Insight has posted a spot-on review of EA's Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault, where it scored 3 out of 5 stars. Snippage:
Jungle sequences constitute a majority of the game. At first, it's very appealing. The graphics engine renders everything in startling detail, and the locales seem authentic. But after an hour or two of this, the patterns begin to rear their ugly heads. Go along and/or near the path, come across Japanese soldiers, kill them, find the village/array of huts, kill everything, set a charge, get (de)briefed, and continue. To be fair, these jungle sequences are broken up by the occasional vehicle ride (on rails), and look spectacular.
I didn't mind the jungle crawl (in fact, I did my best work as a grunt), but I really didn't like the rail sequences at all. I think this may be the last hurrah for the MoH series.. CoD is just much better (IMHO of course) .. We'll have to see how Brothers in Arms turns out.

SWAT 4 preview [16:20:38 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
The guys at SimHQ have posted a great preview of Irrational Games' SWAT 4, and its looking quite nice indeed. Here's a snip:
SWAT 4 will contain 14 missions where the player is the element leader. You will receive the call up, get your mission briefing along with either the actual floor plans of the building or a drawn map of the area of operation. A new feature, you will also have access to the 911 tape of the caller. You will then go to the equipment screen where you will pick and choose your gear along with your elements gear. Then off to complete the mission. Afterwards, your get a detailed list of stats and successes along with your total points for that mission.
Def a good read.. Check it out. (Thanks again Blue's News.)

  • Conflict: Global Terror announced [16:12:36 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Blue's News has posted the press release from publisher SCi Entertainment that announces Conflict: Global Terror, the 4th installment of the Conflict series. Here's the rip:
SCi announce fourth CONFLICT title: CONFLICT: GLOBAL TERROR

SCi Games, one of Europe's leading games publishers, today announced the title of the next game in the no.1 selling Conflict series, as CONFLICT: GLOBAL TERROR.

CONFLICT: GLOBAL TERROR, due for release in autumn 2005, is set in the very near future and focuses on the increasing threat of terrorism gripping the World. Developed by Bath-based Pivotal Games, CONFLICT: GLOBAL TERROR takes the Conflict brand in a new direction from previous installments of the best-selling games series.

Teaming up once again with the original Desert Storm Delta Force - Bradley, Foley, Connors and Jones - your four men now form part of an elite anti-terrorist unit tasked with minimising the worldwide threat from active global terrorist groups. The game takes place across the world, in a number of different and hostile locations and against a merciless and corrupt enemy; this is your squad's greatest challenge to date.

Ray Livingston, Product Manager for SCi Games said; "Without giving away too much at this early stage, CONFLICT: GLOBAL TERROR has taken all the best bits from the previous three games and added a whole lot more. We are conscious of keeping fans of the previous games happy while at the same time attracting a new audience to the Conflict brand and we're sure the result will do just that."

CONFLICT: GLOBAL TERROR will be available on Sony PlayStationTM 2, Microsoft XboxTM and PC in autumn 2005
Each one of the previous Conflict games was better than the last, so I'm looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. Stay tuned as always..

*Elite Warriors: Vietnam announced [22:38:19 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Publisher Bold Games today announced nFusion's next game, Elite Warriors: Vietnam, which is due in January 2005. Here's some of the goods:
BEFORE THERE WAS DELTA FORCE, THERE WAS SOG
The Vietnam War’s most highly classified special operations were performed by the Studies and Operations Group. Consisting primarily of U.S. Army Special Forces “Green Berets,” SOG warriors fought top secret missions deep behind enemy lines. Infiltrate deep into Laos with your Green Beret and Montagnard teammates, hunted by trackers and bloodhounds, outnumbered at times 100-to-1. Rescue downed pilots, ambush convoys, seize enemy prisoners, discover targets for air attacks, and direct air strikes. See why SOG veterans went on to found Delta Force and in the work of secret operations, remain stuff of legends.

Operating in the most dangerous conditions imaginable SOG commandos matched wits with an unrelenting foe

    • Take part in the top secret world of “Black Ops” unconventional warfare.
    • Engage in highly classified operations throughout Southeast Asia.
    • Eight realistic campaigns that take place in multiple phases.
    • Uses Combat Patrol techniques learned in Vietnam and still valid today.
    • Team Building – Train and equip your team and then lead them on covert missions
    And the best news: CO-OP!

[Update]: GameSpot has some screenshots to check out!
