Battlefield Vietnam shots [14:55:31 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
In more shot news, I saw via Blue's News that EA Games has posted some new screenshots from Battlefield Vietnam.. They look so good that they could be renders.. And is it just me, or do they look a lot like Novalogic's upcoming "Battlefield 1942-killer", Joint Operations? (Even tho they're different theaters... Still tho, jungle warfare is all the rage now..) icon_wink.gif

    DF:BHD - Team Sabre review [10:51:44 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (1)
Game Over, which does some of the best reviews in the business, has posted a review of Novalogic's DF:BHD ex-pack, Team Sabre, and scored it at 68% overall.

    Here's a whiff:
Team Sabre splits its dozen missions into two stories: the overthrow of a drug cartel in Columbia (a la Clear and Present Danger) and the extermination of a rebel group in Iran attempting to disrupt oil production. With the dozen missions split more or less evenly, the story is over almost as soon as it’s begun, and you’re probably looking at ten hours or so of playtime max. The Iran missions are pretty easy, a few haywire scripted events aside, as long as you advance methodically and don’t rush blithely into vast enemy forces. The drug cartel story takes place in, naturally enough, jungle, loaded to the treetops with snipers who are all dead shots, and is very, very frustrating.

  • Joint Ops previews, pt 3 & 4 [1:46:22 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Missed this yesterday with all the other news, but C&VG has posted day 3 of their focus on NovaLogic's Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising. This installment talks about the sound and video production of the game. Here's a snip:
Tell us about the process of recording the weaponry in the game.

    Brower:
Virtually every weapon sound you hear in the game is based on the real thing. The sound team has fired every weapon in the game, so we know what they sound like, know what they feel like - that was really important to us. We're literally taking several recordings of the same weapon from several vantage points.
Part four is also online, which interviews NL president Lee Milligan, where they discuss NL's marketing plans. Excerpt:
With Joint Operations you're consciously moving away from Delta Force - how does that fit in, in terms of your long-term plans? We've been told it's the first part of possibly three or four games in total - do you see it on a par with Delta Force or taking over from that brand?

    Milligan:
More on a par with. We think Joint Operations is the beginning of a new franchise or a new world that we can continue to build up. We're going to start with some 30 vehicles and terrains that are centred around Indonesia but over time we'll add in different parts of the world, different vehicles and probably different player-characters to build it out. So this is step one of what we expect to be a long-term project.
Be sure to also check out the media that goes along with each article, like sound clips and of course screenshots.

PRISM: Black Shield website launches [15:16:08 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
This is certainly the busiest news day in quite some time..

There's a new tac shooter on the horizon, entitled PRISM: Black Shield, which will follow in America's Army 's bootsteps by being developed by Rival Interactive (Real War) in cooperation with the US Military's Army National Guard (ARNG).

    Here's the 411:
Rival Interactive is creating a high-end, 3D, first person shooter game based on homeland defense called “Prism: Black Shield” for the Army National Guard (ARNG). The ARNG seeks to create a commercial quality game that is both entertaining and graphically rich. The game will be distributed as a recruitment tool and for increasing the awareness of the Army National Guard. In the game, players will use futuristic US military weapons, equipment and technology as part of a secret new team to combat terrorists on US soil. Players will battle individually or in teams against the game’s advanced artificial intelligence (AI) terrorists and react to a wide range of homeland terrorism scenarios.

Prism: Black Shield will concentrate on introducing weaponry and fighting technology destined for US military use in the year 2010 to include Computer Guided Assault Rifles, Active Camouflage, Hover Cameras, etc. The player will enter a realistic combat environment with the weapons of the future. This is a hi-tech fighting environment where players can stretch their imagination and enter a futuristic world…which, given current intense technology research and development by the US military, is not too far in the future!!!
While I don't get taken in by all the hype, ya can never have too many tac shooters. No word on when it'll be released..

The movies run at 400x288 screen res and clock in at 7.8 and 8.4 MB, and show off about 30 seconds of some urban street fighting and some jungle action. Looking good..

  • Men of Valor: Vietnam preview [13:29:59 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Another Men of Valor: Vietnam preview is up at Action Trip, with their typical wit. Here's a snip:
Objectives may change at any time, so listening to the dialogue between squad members is one of the key elements ensuring your survival during massive assault missions. We also know that 2015 is working hard on pushing teammate AI routines to their limit. You can be sure your comrades will be of great help when intense firefights commence. You can expect them to provide suppressing fire, but also take the time to find cover and patch up their own wounds before heading back into the fray. Hostiles, on the other hand, will respond in their own manner. In addition to quick and forceful melee attacks, foes also have the ability to hurl grenades back at you, challenging players every step of the way.
Sounds like it'll be a fun one..

  • *Conflict Desert Storm 2 reviews [13:08:32 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
I don't normally post console news, but there is also a PC version of the game that is virtually identical. Anyway, GameOver has posted a review of the Gamecube version of Pivotal Games' Conflict Desert Storm 2: Back to Baghdad, scoring it at 70% overall.

    Here's some of it:
The game starts before the Gulf War even begins. Special operations forces are dropped in to lay down the groundwork by eliminating SAM sites, neutralizing communication centers and disarming SCUD missile launchers and warheads. Because you’re behind enemy lines, support will come in the form of helicopter rocket attacks (you can paint targets using a laser designator) or the odd tank or APC. For the most part, though, you’ll be gunning it alone. Alone might not be the exact term I would use as you duke it out alongside four team members: a rifleman, a heavy machine gun expert, a demolitions man and a sniper.
Lots of nice screenshots are included too (and don't worry, the PC versions are much higher quality.)

[Update]: There's another review [PC] of the game up at Strategy Informer, where the game scores 62% overall.

  • Vietcong: Fist Alpha [12:48:47 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
PC.ign is the latest site to post a review of Pterodon & Illusion Softworks' Vietnam-era shooter, Vietcong: Fist Alpha, scoring it at 77% overall. Here's how they kick it off:
Vietcong: Fist Alpha isn't exactly the biggest or best expansion pack ever to grace store shelves. That said, it does add on some new features and more action that fans of the original game will be sure to eat up. The new additions include five new weapons like the M14 and Scorpion, new multiplayer options including the new Turn Table mode, and a brand new campaign which has some great moments and some mind blowingly frustrating moments that follow a different main character across several new missions. Even with some gameplay problems and relative brevity of the campaign, Fist Alpha is still an acceptable expansion to one of the more interesting shooters of last year, especially at the lower $20 price tag.

  • *Kuma War website re-launch [12:43:52 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
I haven't made mention of this game yet, but it seems up our alley. Kuma Reality Games has re-launched their Kuma War website with a new trailer and expanded details on the first two missions in the game. There's also a beta demo you can download if you're a subscriber of FilePlanet.

The game, which is subscription based, will let you game real-world operations soon after they happen. Here's the background concept:
Kuma Reality Games builds re-creations of real-world events using advanced gaming tools. Kuma\War, the first Kuma Reality Game, is a first and third-person tactical squad-based game that provides multiple updates monthly to the consumer's computer to reflect unfolding events in the real world. Each month Kuma\War subscribers will receive playable missions, video news shows, extensive intelligence gathered from news sources around the world, and insight from a decorated team of military veterans.
MP even includes co-op, which is a nice touch. We'll have to see how this game turns out..

[Update]: There's a preview of the game over at HomeLAN Fed, based on the beta build.

Joint Ops preview, part 2 [8:13:20 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
C&VG has posted the second part of their preview of Novalogic's MP shooter, Joint Operations, with some Q&A's from the dev team. Here's a snip:
And the environments are far more diverse than in previous Novalogic titles, aren't they?

    Durand:
We have river villages made out of thatch and wood and corrugated tin; we also have rooms made out of stone. We've got four or five different building just for the Indonesians. It's such a new experience having so many vehicles on top of this and having to balance the story on both sides.
    Def looking good..

Jolt.co.uk has posted a preview of Vivendi and 2015's upcoming shooter Men of Valor: Vietnam.

    Here's a snip:
For MoV, the members of your squad will remain the same throughout each mission, providing of course they don't get killed. Their AI is set to be far more human – instead of doing a dance in front of an enemy tank with a pistol, they'll be diving for cover, and generally be more concerned over the welfare of their own backsides as opposed to taking bullets for you.
The game is set for a late Q2 2004 release.

[Update]: There's also another preview over at pc.ign. Check out that one too..

Soldner 'physik demo' [19:47:00 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Lightning-fast site EDBIS is hosting the Soldner 'Physik Demo'. Here's the 411:
"Download the test environment with the link above and unzip it (Winzip needed). Just start it and you see two windows: one with a vector landscape display and one with the camera settings. You can control the vehicle with cursor keys. In case you topple over the vehicle or fall down the landscape simply press W to reset the vehicle. Some simple objects are standing around which you can collide with and which behave physically. In this test environment we are testing the physics engine. The code is identical to Söldner (i.e. the DLL which contains the engine), only the display is done with a vector display as we need to show debug lines and variables."
Not much to look at really (wireframe rendering), but I guess it'll let you get an idea of the kind of physics the game will have...

Joint Operations preview [12:16:54 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
The folks over at C&VG have posted a preview of Novalogic's large-scale MP shooter, Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising. Here's some of the goods:
But while similar in principle this is no mere Battlefield clone; and with BF: Vietnam waiting in the wings, it clearly can't afford to be. "Our on-foot combat and ballistics system are leaps and bounds ahead of that found in Battlefield," explains Joint Ops producer Joel Taubel.

"We definitely want vehicles in but we don't want to take away one of the best things we do: on-foot combat." And taking another swipe at his main rival, while underlining his team's drive towards realism: "With our ballistics system you can expect the guns to react and handle as they would in real life."
As great as BF was, I really never did have a good feel for the ballistics and vehicle controls. Looks like JO is addressing those concerns at least.

Men of Valor interview [15:12:21 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
ActionVault has posted an interview with a few members of developer 2015 where they discuss Men of Valor: Vietnam. Here's some sauce:
Action Vault: Are there other important aspects, features et al related to this topic that you wish to note for our readers, anything you'd like to tell them, or something you want to ask?

    Kris Jackson:
I'd like to mention our Battle Chatter system; each of our squad mates and our enemies have hundreds of lines that are kicked off based upon their AI states. They have additional story lines that are scripted, of course, but hearing these guys in battle is something special. They really run the gauntlet of emotions. Our programmers have done an incredible job bringing these guys to life, and the voice-over talent has been amazing.

The guys at GameSpot AU have posted a review of Novalogic's ex-pack to Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, Team Sabre, and scored it at 55% overall.

    Here's a clip:
The weaponry within the game is a step up from the original with a few more upgrades and new toys to play with like the G36E and the PsG1, which is a sniper rifle with a crazy 12x zoom attached. There are also some added vehicles such as an infiltration chopper and a ridged hull inflatable boat along with a new recon vehicle.

*Site stuff [17:48:35 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
I've been doing lots of work on the site over the last few weeks (so much so, that I haven't gamed once in over two weeks!)

The biggest change is that I've added a chat script to the site. I took the basic script and more than doubled it's size with new features (see the 'about' doc once you're in chat for the full list). I still have many more ideas for features I'd like to add to it, so it'll be an on-going project.

If you run 1152x864 or higher screen res, you'll see the chat output in the left frame at the bottom. All users can see the chat output at the bottom of the main page, after all the news. If you're not in chat, the chat window(s) will update every 10 seconds; in chat, they update at near real-time. Click the * SpecForce chat link to access the chat. Currently, you will need to register, but you can save your login credentials in a cookie by checking the 'Remember Settings' option. I'm also working on removing the need to register too. Stay tuned.. (Update: Ok, registration is now optional, but some features are disabled. Register to gain full access to the script.)

I had to redesign the left frame menu area to fit in the new chat window. Some things were moved around and some page elements are dropped if you are viewing the lo-res version of the site ('extra' gfx, and the calendar I recently added was moved above the release dates). To see the site the way I intended it, you really need 1152x864 res or higher if at all possible. Turning on JavaScript is pretty much a must as well.. There are no pop-up ads here, so you're 'safe' leaving it enabled for this site.

I also finally got around to making a new poll topic, so be sure to vote today!

I tweaked the "Murphy's Laws of Combat" output a bit as well. It'll now print which number saying is displayed out of the total number on file. I added about 50 more sayings as well.

I also tweaked the table border colors (poll & release dates), so other than minor font size rendering differences, the site is identical on all browsers now (well, Netscape, Internet Explorer, Mozilla FireFox, & Opera.)

And lastly, long-time fan of the site, Maverick, joins us as our new newsie. Welcome aboard Mav!

Oh, I renewed the domain for 2 more years too, so I'll be around for awhile yet! icon_biggrin.gif

As always, thanks for stopping by!

Shadow Ops preview [18:09:00 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Gaming site 1Up has posted a preview of developer Zombie Studios and publisher Atari's upcoming XBox (and PC) tactical shooter, Shadow Ops: Red Mercury. Here's the obligatory snip:
Even though Shadow Ops is still early (it just went alpha, so a lot of tweaking and bugfixing remains to be done), it already plays like a very well-polished production. The graphics look lovely throughout, but that's not worth noting -- you can tell that easily enough from the screenshot gallery above. What you can't see is just how frenetic some missions are -- you'll hear radio chatter almost constantly as rocket-propelled grenades explode and chunks of buildings fall apart all over you.
I'm hoping for good things from this title as I'm quite the Zombie fanboy , having cut my tactical shooter teeth on Zombie's Spec Ops series of games. 18 new screenshots are included as well.

  • Soldner interview [17:58:19 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
The folks at WarCry have posted an interview witn Wings Simulations' Teut Weidemann, lead designer and executive producer of Söldner: Secret Wars. Here's a sample Q & A:
Warcry: There are a lot of FPS' on the game shelves these days. What about Soldner sets it apart from the others?

    Teut:
Soldner differs from "sports shooters" like Quake and Unreal or "tactical shooters" like Rainbow Six or Operation Flashpoint. In our opinion, even the Battlefield titles could be considered as a "team tactical shooter". Söldner is placed somewhere between Battlefield and Operation Flashpoint.
Some nice screensnaps accompany the article. Check it out.

Alpha Black Zero preview [5:37:41 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (1)
I've been seeing news on this one for awhile, and it seems to be up our alley, so with that, I noticed via Blue's News that HomeLAN Fed has posted a preview of developer Khaeon and publisher Playlogic's 3rd person sci-fi tactical shooter, Alpha Black Zero, which uses the Serious Sam engine. This looks like it's for us:
The player team AI is impressive as well with team members covering, crouching, and shooting as a team without any aid of any commands. However you can control if you want via simple keyboard commands to halt, regroup, fire and more. While we didn’t get a chance to check out this aspect of the game, Alpha Black Zero will have a full multiplayer co-op mode for the entire 17 missions of the full game.
This one promises co-op too, but we'll see if it's still in the game when it ships. (No word on US release date..) Hit the official website for more.

Conflict: Vietnam US publisher [5:02:18 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
UK publisher Sales Curve Interactive (SCi) has posted a press release announcing that Take 2 will be the U.S. publisher for Conflict: Vietnam, the third installment of SCi's "Conflict" series of tactical shooters. Here's the rip:
SCi, one of Europe’s leading publishers of computer games, today announces that it has granted exclusive North American publishing rights for Conflict: Vietnam, the next game in the highly successful Conflict series, to Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (“Take-Two”).

Take-Two has committed to a marketing programme and will provide SCi with a guaranteed advance against royalty payments based on sales. Conflict: Vietnam will be published in Europe in September and North America in Autumn 2004. It will be available on Sony PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox and PC.

Worldwide shipment of Conflict: Desert Storm and Conflict: Desert Storm 2 now exceeds 2.5 million units. Conflict: Desert Storm was originally released in September 2002 and Conflict: Desert Storm 2 was released in September 2003. Both games achieved the number one chart position in the U.K. charts.
    Thanks Blue's News.

I recently finished playing Conflict: Desert Storm 1, and I'm making my way thru CDS2 right now.. Let's hope "third time's the charm" and they finally get the mouse aiming 'fixed' for the PC. Tho as the title is slated for consoles as well, I kinda doubt it.

Söldner Previews [23:35:18 EST] by ~~ Maverick   Comments (0)
GamersHell has posted a preview of Wings Simulation's up-coming tactical vehicular shooter, Söldner. Here's an excerpt:
Söldner: Secret Wars is a highly anticipated 3rd/1st Person view wargame (similar in genre to Operation Flashpoint), that features over 60 weapons (FAMAS, 557, G36C, M4A1, just to give you a few names...) and over 70 vehicles (including helicopters, jets, VTOL, tanks, jeeps, APCs and so forth). With such a variety, there may be a reason to delete BF1942 / Desert Combat from our computers, and especially since there's a destructible environment engine implemented for all us destructive people.
Also noteworthy, is 1UP's preview which can be found here. Heres a tidbit shedding light on just how enormous the game world is:
It's hard to quantify exactly how freaking large these maps are, but if you boldly attempted to walk from one end to the other like a complete idiot (though I don't believe an end actually exists) you'll find yourself dying prematurely in real-life. Once starvation sets in and its decided that leaving the computer to eat is best, go ahead and rest a biblically sized book atop the "W" key to force your character to walk endlessly forward in your stead.

VC: Fist Alpha review/ sequel [6:54:15 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Missed this before, but ActionTrip has posted a review of Pterodon Studio's Vietcong ex-pack, Fist Alpha where is scores a solid 70%. Here's a bit on what's new in the game:
The biggest improvement I've seen in terms of gameplay is the way the enemy soldiers react during gunfights. They appear a lot more successful in finding cover, flanking, and reacting naturally to your presence when you meet them head on in close-quarters combat. (They try to spray you with a shower of bullets - just like they should.) Another area in which Fist Alpha showed improvement is the positional audio, which is now damn-nearly perfect.
In more VC news, it seems Pterodon is working on a followup to the game as well, according to a news item on the Pterodon website. Here's the pertinent part:
Last week we had a chance to visit the United Kingdom.

Our first meeting was in the town Windsor in one of the Gathering offices. We discussed various of things – for example Vietcong in the USA, the gMAX licensing, new free multiplayer missions for Vietcong and what is more important – a new PTERODON project.

The only thing we can say now is, that the project will take place in the world of Vietcong. If you have any suggestions for the singleplayer and multiplayer modes in this new Vietcong project, you can discuss it in our forum in the "New Vietcong" section.

  • *BF Vietnam preview [6:45:03 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
GameBiz.au has posted a preview of EA & DICE's followup to BF: 1942, Battlefield Vietnam.

    Here's a snip:
Graphically Battlefield Vietnam is going to be vastly different to Battlefield in the original there was open land, deserts and some trees. Vietnam is filled with dense, harsh nasty jungles, small rivers, lush bushes and swamp with a great deal of greenery described by the EA development team as "overgrowth and undergrowth". The jungles will also have various temples, huts, military bases and bridges. The Vietnam jungle was harsh and unforgiving and that is shown within the game, the jungle, grass and other flora are certainly dense and intrusive enough to give the proper perspective. The environment is presented in such way there is going to be a lot of sniping, stalking, ambushes and guerrilla warfare.

[Update]: In more BF Vietnam news, fansite BF42.com has posted some new screenshots as well.

    H&D2 review [22:59:03 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Gaming site Gamer's Hell has posted a review of Illusion Softworks' WWII squad shooter, Hidden & Dangerous 2, where is scores a solid 85% overall. Here's some of the good stuff:
Speaking of levels, your missions go from rescuing a downed pilot, to destroying an entire underground base, to completely infiltrating an island with water insertion points, and enable a lighthouse for friendly boats to see where to go, all while blowing up multiple large cannons mounted in the base. These missions vary all over in objectives, and they provide a good variety.

The folks over at pc.ign have posted a preview of EA & DICE's upcoming 'Nam shooter, Battlefield: Vietnam, the follow-up to their previous cash cow, Battlefield: 1942. The preview takes a peek under the hood so to speak and looks at the mod tools and server options the game will ship with. Here's a snip:
Battlecraft is the name of the game's map editor and, judging from the demo we saw today, will allow amateur map designers to not only create the geography of a given conflict, but also place objects and spawn points for soldiers and vehicles.
The game is set to ship in late March.

Crytek Raided for Piracy! [18:35:10 EST] by ~~ Uziyahu   Comments (0)
From GameSpy comes this woeful news:
Crytek Raided for Piracy Software - Aramo

German police forces performed a raid on the Coburg, Germany offices of Crytek according to Holger Will, an employee of a radio station located in the same building, who contacted GameSpy.

Will's report and those of German news sites indicate a former employee of Crytek, developers of the upcoming first-person shooter FarCry to be published by Ubisoft, hinted that the development house was using piracy software to create its games.

Computer experts who took part in the raid report the damage caused by the raid, in which some 150 policemen reportedly participated, goes into the six-digits range.

Neither Crytek nor Ubisoft has commented on raid and how it will affect the development process of FarCry.
Whether raided or hacked, what is happening to all of the promising games on the horizon?

DFBHD - Team sabre review [3:20:28 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
The folks at 3D Avenue have put up a review of Novalogic's Delta Force: Black Hawk Down - Team Sabre, which clocks in at 76% overall.

    Snippage:
Despite the annoyances though, Team Sabre is still just as fun as BHD was. If you love a bit of action then Team Sabre will provide it - exploding cars every which way, high speed boat and car pursuits with mounted machine guns galore, high paced close quarter combat; it's all here. As mentioned earlier, this is not really a Raven Shield alternative. Although some aspects like no life bar and injures are pretty realistic, the basic motto of the game is certainly fun over reality, and hey, I guess for most people that's what gaming is all about.

ActionTrip has posted a preview of Namco's PC-port of their military action shooter, kill.switch, which is being handled by UK-based developer Bitmap Brothers. Here's a clip:
Your character has a few neat tricks up his sleeve, while slipping through enemy formations (after all, you are a slick and skillful military operative). Almost any environment can be used to your advantage. Since foes often attack in groups, players have the opportunity to hide behind walls, crates, pillars, etc. Such tactics are likely to be useful on many occasions. One of the most impressive feats we've seen was the character's ability to duck behind obstacles and fire at enemies without looking. Our hero simply stretches his arms above the obstacle and fires a rain of bullets into his adversaries.
Probably not all that tactical, but it looks like it'll be a fun romp. Several new screenshots are included with the article.

Soldner interview [6:08:47 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (2)
Scary site Gamer's Hell has posted an interview with Wings Simulations' designer and CEO Teut Weidemann where they discusss all things Soldner: Secret Wars.

Here's one of the questions and answers:
What about controlling these vehicles? Will the controls be detailed (simulation style), or just the normal move-and-shoot controls?

We’re somewhere in the middle. Our flying physics are close to be realistic, but the interface helps to make it a little easier. Still you need to train to fully master a helicopter for example. Even firing an Abrams tank on the move isn't as easy as it sounds, some skill is involved. Our physics engine makes sure the feedback is real, our control system makes sure you can fully control each unit with mouse and standard keyboard keys.
The interview also mentions that co-op has been 'post-poned' for "a later patch or ex-pack". Again!! And the planned 'skirmish' (random mission) mode won't make it in either... Grrr!

Pretty good, informative interview otherwise.. Def check it out..

Far Cry MP preview [4:28:12 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
EDBIS has posted a second Far Cry preview, based on some time with the multi-player beta version of the game.

Here's a bit on the MP aspect:
A lot better already is the Assault gametype, because the gameplay is much more suitable for this. One team tries to complete an objective (placing explosives, flicking switches, the usual stuff) while the defending team does its best to prevent this. The use of stationary cannons and vehicles gives it the edge over deathmatch. I didn’t get to see the gametype’s full potential yet, but I imagine that if two good teams get a shot at it, it could be very exciting.

Another day, another Delta Force: Black Hawk Down - Team Sabre review, this time over at HomeLAN Fed, where it scores an 81% overall. Here's the obligatory snip:
Still, Delta Force: Black Hawk Down - Team Saber turned into a highly additive gameplay experience for me, even with its flaws. If you are a fan of the original game, grabbing Team Saber is a no-brainer; Ritual Entertainment has delivered on the Novalogic formula well with their work on this expansion pack. If you haven’t played any of the previous Delta Force games before, picking up both Black Hawk Down and Team Saber should prove to be entertaining, in both single and multiplayer modes.
    That is all.

kill.switch [PC] interview [21:19:08 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (1)
I managed to scope out (pun intended) another interview about the PC-port of Namco's console hit, kill.switch over at Adrenaline Vault. Here's a clip on what we can look forward to:
What enhancements to the graphics are being incorporated?

You can adjust the resolution and play at 1600x1200 and higher depending on your video card and monitor - which offers excellent accuracy and better graphics. We've also used uncompressed textures to further improve the visuals. The PC version is based on DirectX 9 - which offers optimal use of available graphics hardware acceleration and input devices such as rumble pads.
Check out the screenshots at the end if you haven't seen them already. The game kinda reminds me of a more action-oriented Metal Gear Solid...

  • *DFBHD - Team Sabre review [7:19:00 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (3)
GameGuru Mania is the latest site to post a quickie review of Novalogic's expansion pack to Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, Team Sabre and scored it 73% overall. Excerpt:
The multiplayer portion of the game won't disappoint you. Team Sabre adds 30 new multiplayer maps (most of them drawn from the single-player campaign) playable in 7 different multiplayer modes (Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Attack and Defend, Search and Destroy, King of the Hill and Team King of the Hill) and up to 50 players on a server at a time. The new maps are heavy with trees and offer plenty of areas to hide. You will also be able to join NovaWorld games as an SAS character.
The review seems more of an excuse to post lots of screenshots. (82 if you're counting..)

[Update]: There's another review over at PC Arena, where it scores 3.5 out of 5. (Thanks Blue's News.)
