*Delta Force: Xtreme shots [1:57:56 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (1)
I spotted via Blue's News that Novalogic has posted a product page for Delta Force: Xtreme which *seems* to be the remake of DF1 that was formally known as Delta Force: Reloaded, which then was changed to Delta Force One: Next Gen. (Personally, I think Delta Force: Reloaded was the best name of the bunch.)

There's no doubt that DF1 rocked hard in its day, so it'll be great to see the game again with a modern engine. And with 25 co-op missions, I'll be all over this one.

[Update]: Boomtown has higher res versions to check out.

Not sure if ya want to DL the Elite Warriors: Vietnam demo? Well, I hosted a few MP games last night (co-op of course), and took some screensnaps (6) of the action. Take a look!

And the answer is yes, you should DL the demo (and buy the game!)

GameSpot is hosting the premier of nFusion Interactive's Elite Warriors: Vietnam (free registration required), that weighs in at a whopping 406 MB! Here's the juice:
Gamers will lead a four-man team on a mission to destroy a construction site and vehicle depot along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. • Combat: Task Force 121 ships [1:55:05 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
The fine folks from Groove Games' PR firm sent along a press release announcing the release of Combat: Task Force 121, developed by Direct Action Games.

    Here's the good stuff:
TORONTO, ON – March 15, 2005 – Groove Games today announced Combat: Task Force 121, a full featured modern military shooter that thrusts gamers into the most elite covert unit of the United States military. Developed by Direct Action Games, founded by the creators of the best-selling SPEC OPS series, and using the Unreal® Engine2, Combat: Task Force 121 features state of the art graphics, an immersive storyline and intense multiplayer action on Xbox Live™ and LAN over PC, all at a value price.

“The talented team at Direct Action Games has a track record for creating top-quality military games and we are thrilled to be working with them on Combat: Task Force 121,” said Jon Walsh, CEO, Groove Games. “Combat: Task Force 121 offers engaging gameplay and amazing graphics, all at an attractive price gamers will love.”

In Combat: Task Force 121, gamers become part of the covert unit comprised of Navy Seals, Green Berets, Army Rangers and USMC Recon personnel tasked with thwarting a deadly group of rebels by putting a halt to their terrorist acts before U.S. interests are compromised. By working though 10 exciting single player assignments, gamers must battle their way, day and night, through a variety of environments including dense jungle, a shanty town, an oil rig, a refinery plant and an exotic island. Players can access authentic military weapons throughout the game including the M4 Assault Rifle, M203 Grenade Launcher, MK43 7.62 Machinegun and a .50 Cal Tactical Sniper Rifle.

Gamers can also confront the enemy with up to 16 other players in the exciting Multiplayer mode on Xbox Live. The Multiplayer mode includes 8 game types, 13 maps, 2 and 4 player split screens and Al bots for offline practice.

Combat: Task Force 121 is available March 22, 2005 for a suggested retail price of $19.99 (USD). For more information about Combat: Task Force 121, please visit www.combat121.com.
The game shipped last week, and there is a patch and game guide available as well.

While not squad based, the game def appeals to the military gamer in me, and the $19.99 price tag appeals to the bargain shopper in me. I may have a review on it coming up as well. Stay tuned..

*'Spec Ops' returns! [19:08:50 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (5)
Voodoo Extreme has posted word that there is a new Spec Ops title in the works, with Queens of the Stone Age on tap to do the game music. Not much other info than that tho.

On a personal note, Spec Ops is what started my tactical gaming career on the PC (and from where the site gets its name), and I have very fond memories of that game.. Looking forward to how the new installment turns out.

[Update]: Another news blurb can be found here. Not much info here either.

Elite Warriors: Vietnam preview [17:46:12 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
The folks at GameSpot have posted a rather in-depth preview of nFusion Interactive's upcoming game, Elite Warriors: Vietnam, which recently went gold.

    Here's a snip:
The action mode in Elite Warriors is by no means a standard shoot-'em-up. There's a huge amount of stealth involved, as you can crawl around the jungle to avoid an enemy patrol or sneak up on your target. You have control over your squad simply by calling up a radial menu by holding down the Q key and selecting from the many options, such as "hold fire," "prone," and "fire at will." There's also the ability to jump from squad member to squad member simply by hitting the corresponding function key. It's a very easy system to pick up and learn, and before too long we had our squad sneaking up on a North Vietnamese camp, with each man getting in separate positions to provide different fields of fire.
The game should be shipping very soon.. Def pick up a copy!

Ok, we're back [21:54:49 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
Seems one of the 3 hard drives I had in the server went bad, and made the entire system grind to a standstill. I first thought the C: drive was bad, (and lost some time trying to fix that..) but it was actually the D: drive that decided to go bad. Luckily there were very few services running on D:, so we're pretty much back to where we were before.

I'm working on moving anything that was on D: to another volume.. Stay tuned.

Thanks as always for stopping by!

Elite Warriors: Vietnam interview [22:55:25 EST] by ~~ Rushian   Comments (0)
GameZone has posted a interview with Major John L. Plaster, retired Green Beret, who has lent his experience in the bush to nFusion Interactive's upcoming squad shooter, Elite Warriors: Vietnam, which should be in stores later this month. Here's a clip:
Q: Does this game recount your exploits solely, or does it put gamers into similar situations and allows them the ability to determine their own course? Is this a linear game?

    Maj. Plaster:
I should emphasize that this game is not linear – it’s about as free-play as current technology allows. When your team lands in southern Laos (on any of a variety of landing zones), you can go in any direction. And (hats off to Jeff and nFusion), you won't be impeded by the typical "maze" style obstacles that steer you in a particular direction. That was one of my pet peeves from evaluating other games – that most of them were elaborate mazes that "steered" you in restricted directions until you made line-of-sight contact with bad guys, and had to shoot. The setting may be dressed up in beautiful graphics, but it's still just a maze – and where's the tactical judgment in that? Further, in "Elite Warriors" the fact that each time you play, the enemy is shifted about, means that (by structure) it's dramatically non-linear.
