Somewhere Over the Rainbow in WW2OL

This player named "mcgruin" calls out for fellow Allied players in World War 2 Online to board his plane for a combat jump into Bergen Op Zoom, a town once held by British forces, but now held by the Jerry's. After several minutes of waiting for the plane to fill with paratroopers, we go wheels-up and take to the skies. View the approximately 45 Meg Windows Media Video of our jump somewhere over the rainbow if you want to watch something intended to be nostalgic, relaxing, and sentimental. Do NOT download this video if you are looking for funny or action-packed World War II Online footage. You can find that on the official forums. |

Close Combat: First to Fight review
[20:09:37 EDT] by

The guys at 3D Avenue have posted a review of Destineer's modern day sqaud shooter, Close Combat: First to Fight, scoring it at a seemingly low 68% overall. Here's a bit to start you off: First to Fight has the basis of what is a very solid game, but it fails to deliver in far too many aspects, resulting in an initially impressive, yet easily exposed FPS. The gameplay is good at times, but buggy, tedious and repetitive at other times - the command/leader aspect of the game is a clear example of this; it seems very advanced and it certainly can be when it wants to be, but usually it proves to be, perhaps, a little too advanced for the game's AI and it simply confuses itself.I just started playing this, and I'm really liking it. I don't think the game is as bad as this reviewer thinks. To me, it harkens back to the days of Rogue Spear and the Urban Ops ex-pack, and that's a good thing. Related News |

Private Wars on hold (again)

On a whim I decided to check the 1C website to see if there was any news on Private Wars, but noticed that the product page had been taken down. I then fired off some email to their PR guy who sent mail back saying that the game has been put on hold once again. He didn't give any other details. This title has been in development (off and on) since 1998! I think it ranks right up there along with Duke Nukem Forever in the Vaporware category! Related News

Delta Force Xtreme review

GameZone has posted their review of Novalogic's DF1 remake, Delta Force Xtreme, scoring it at 85% overall. Here's a snip: Though the missions are fun and can be quite challenging, it gets to be the same old hat after the first campaign. The game is a bit too easy for my liking and most gamers should probably finish the game in weekend. The enemy and team AI is all over the map. Sometimes it is very realistic and others you do not understand what the heck they are doing. If only there was a difficulty setting to make the game a bit more realistic. So in short the AI can and will be pretty predictable after a while, which makes the game a bit simple.Classic Novalogic there.. The AI is a bit too tame, and the game sorta disolves into a turkey shoot, but then again, NL titles have always been more about the body count. Related News |

Elite Warriors: Vietnam review
[14:11:57 EDT] by

Another review of Elite Warriors: Vietnam has surfaced over at WorthPlaying, and manages to get a score of 51%. Clippage: The shooting in this game is downright broken. Headshots? Ha! Good luck even landing shots to the body at anything but medium- to close-range. When you fire off a burst from your M16, little yellow sparks fly off of enemy soldiers, and they just shrug it off 90% of the time, as if they have invisible bullet shields. This review is perhaps the worst so far, being flat out wrong in a few places. This is also another case where publishers continually shoot themselves in the foot by pushing games out the door before they're ready, to be patched later. I can attest that the upcoming patch fixes this and many other issues the game has. On the plus side, the review has lots of nice screenshots to look at. Related News |
